24th Aug 2008Turning the Place Over (7 images)
'Turning the place over', the former Yates's Wine Lodge building, opposite Moorfields Railway Station, Liverpool. The derelict building is set a strange "artwork", the brainchild of sculptor Richard Wilson, who cut an egg-shaped section out of the building, fixing the eight metre diameter piece on a pivot. It is reported to have cost £450,000 - money well spent?

Bank Holiday on Merseyside (95 images)
August Bank Holiday saw The Mathew Street Festival, which allowed for a very pleasant couple of days in a mainly traffic-free Liverpool - and we also found time for a trip across the water to Birkenhead to see the views across the Mersey from Woodside

A Bank Holiday weekend visit started with a look at the old Dock Road (Regent Road and Waterloo Road), towards the City as far as Princes Dock and the new developments
2nd Jun 2008A walk around Liverpool including Liverpool One (99 images)
This is a collection of photos taken on a leisurely morning's walk, starting in the newly opened Liverpool One, down to the Waterfront and along by the Arena, then back via the Baltic Fleet, into the centre through Whitechapel and Williamson Square, along Lime Street, down Ranelagh Street and Hanover Street, finally returning to Liverpool One - an interesting mix of old, new and not yet completed
    4th May 2008Church Street comparison (2 images)
I remembered that at home I had an old photo showing Church Street, taken from the corner of Hanover Street and looking towards Clayton Lane and Parker Street, and knowing that many of the shop-fronts still remain, I was interested in comparing the picture in 1927 with that of today

    3rd Feb 2007Foggy Day (9 images)
A visit to Albert Dock and The Waterfront was quite an experience - very foggy and still, eerily quiet (apart from the sound of a foghorn controlling the River Mersey) - and the promised sunshine and blue skies failed to materialise over this part of Liverpool
